Social Concerns
The Social Concerns Committee shall work toward the following goals: To minister to the social needs of the community through personal service to the needy; to deal with economic and political issues and attempt rectification of political inequities; to cooperate with, participate in and support those agencies, institutions and organizations which help resolve social problems; to alert parish members of social and political injustices; and to involve parishioners in serving the needs of the poor, aged, lonely or disadvantaged individuals within the community.

Community Organizations:
Interfaith Compassion Ministry (ICM) - A group of local religious organizations whose members screen clients for financial aide. St John's volunteers work on Tuesday mornings from 10:00am until noon.
Habitat for Humanity - is a Christian organization which constructs single family homes for the needy.
Haven House - is an alcohol rehabilitation center for men and women. Men of the parish conduct a prayer service on the first Sunday of the month at 9:30am.
Meals on Wheels - is a civic organization which delivers meals to the homebound. Volunteers from St John's report for duty around 11:00am on the 2nd Monday and/or 4th Wednesday of each month. Delivery on other days is also available.
Community Food Pantry - is an organization providing food for the needy. Volunteers from our church work the month of October at the pantry unloading trucks, stocking shelves and distributing food.
Church Women United - is an interracial, interdenominational, intergenerational organization which meets five times a year to pray, socialize and support charitable works particularly for needy women and children.
